Overview: Deployment Wizard

The Deployment Wizard guides you through the virtual server deployment procedure:
  1. Selecting undeployed servers
  2. Using a deployment template (hardware and hypervisor profiles combination)
  3. Assigning identification to the deployed servers
  4. Matching a desired connection profile to each server
  5. Scheduling the server deployment job to run
Finally, the Deployment Wizard can take you to the Job Queue where you can manage deployment jobs.

Warning: Deployment to Secure Digital (SD) cards is not supported by the Dell plug-in.

Tasks

Caution: You can use the Next and Back controls to review your selections as long as you do not change the set of servers to deploy.

 

The Deployment Wizard steps you through each phase of the deployment process:
  1. Select Servers: Assign undeployed servers to this deployment job:
    • Select the servers using the check boxes.
  2. Deployment Template: Select/create a deployment template to use with these servers:
    • Use an unmodified deployment template by selecting the name with the mouse.
    • Click Edit to change one or both profiles associated with the template.
      Use the drop-down lists to choose from defined profiles.
      (Alternatively click Create New to define a new profile.)
  3. Server Identification: Assign deployed servers new names and network identification:
    • Click ^ to expand and view individual server information.
    • Enter Fully Qualified Host Name.
    • Select NIC for Management Tasks using drop-down list.
    • Supply Networking IP addresses or select the Obtain using DHCP check box.
    • Repeat for all servers to deploy or select the Apply settings to all selected servers check box.
  4. Connection Profile: Automagically assign servers to connection profiles after deployment job completion:
    • Assign All servers the same Connection Profile with the option and select a connection profile with the drop-down list.
    • Click View to display the selected connection profile settings.
    • Select the Select a Connection Profile for each Server option.
      Use the drop-down list beside each server's infromation to assign the desired connection profile.
  5. Schedule: Set deployment job run time:
    • Choose whether to:
      • Run the job immediately
      • Suspend it immediately
      • Schedule the deployment job for the calendar date and time
    • Create deployment job but hold it indefinitely using the Create deployment job but put it on hold check box.
    • Enter text for Job Description (displays in Job Queue) to manage deployment jobs.
    • Click Finish.
  6. [Optional] Begin managing deployment jobs using the Job Queue.
