Class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Homework Expectations: 1–3 hours per week, depending on each student's pace.

Spanish I (HS): 2½ hours per week, 32 weeks.

Spanish 1 is designed for students who have little or no experience with Spanish.  We cover basic vocabulary for everyday life.  We focus on proper pronunciation, present tense verbs, pronouns, definite and indefinite articles, and gender agreement.  Students have opportunities to interview native speakers from a variety of Spanish-speaking countries, and we also enjoy some of the culture (especially food!) of several Spanish-speaking countries.

Julie Poe is a homeschool mom and an adjunct instructor at Richland College.  She teaches grammar, writing, reading, and listening and speaking classes in the English as a Second or Other Language program.  She has been addicted to teaching since childhood, when she lined her dolls and stuffed animals up in front of a chalkboard and started conveying all the knowledge she had.
