Students learn how to build machines and mechanisms using the LEGO® Technic system and the LEGO Power Functions motors and accessories. Learn the foundations of LEGO® Technic building, from simple machines to advanced mechanics. Gain unique insight into mechanical principles like torque, power translation and gear ratios. LEGO mechanisms can work as building blocks to create more complex creations.
With the knowledge gained in this class, students can apply these foundations to any number of simple machines, wheeled vehicles, and creative contraptions using LEGO® Technic and LEGO Power Functions!

A $50 materials fee is included in the class tuition for the instructor to provide additional resources.
Laura studied Anthropology at Texas State University. While attending college, she worked as a teaching assistant for Education Psychology and General Studies. Before homeschooling, Laura was a teacher at Starbright Preschool in Austin for four years. She has homeschooled her three children for the past 15 years.
Laura's homeschooling and other leadership roles include service on the SAIL Board of Directors, Robotics Coach for the SAIL Robotics team, Girl Scout Leader, and ten years of teaching in her homeschool co-op. She is passionate about providing children with wonderful opportunities to realize their full potential and has dedicated most of her adult life to this single focus. She teaches middle school courses: Middle School Engineering, Robotics, Critical Thinking, Lego Mechanisms, and Formal Logic.
