Overview: Hypervisor Profiles - Create New
A hypervisor profile is the second element of a well-constructed deployment template. It includes:
Caution: vCenter authentication passwords must not exceed 31 characters.
- Name and a unique description text
- Reference ISO image - location of a scriptable Hypervisor installation image and staging folder. During deployment, the appropriate version of the Openmanage Server Administrator is deployed on the host.
- vCenter settings - vCenter instance, authentication, destination, and host profile,
- Caution: The Staging Folder must be an NFS share folder with Full Control or Change permissions.
Tasks
To add a new hypervisor profile:
- Click Create New. The Hypervisor Profile: Profile Name pop-up displays.
- Enter the Profile Name and an optional Description. Provide distinctive information to manage custom hypervisor configurations. Click Save. If you want to stop creating a new hypervisor profile, click X (upper-right corner) to close the Hypervisor Profile: profile name pop-up. To return to a previous Hypervisor Profile section, click one of the left pane areas.
- Click Reference ISO in the left pane.
Enter the values for: - Hypervisor Reference ISO: An ISO image the permits unattended scripted installation of ESX or ESXi software. Use ISO filename format - xxxx.xxxxx:/yy.iso. The file extension, colon, forward slash, and 3 alphanumberic characters are manditory.
- Staging Folder: temporary storage (\\NFS\Share) used during deployment.
- Click Save to add the Reference ISO settings to the profile.
- Click vCenter Settings in the left pane.
Enter the values for: - vCenter instance: instance that will manage a host after deployment.
- User Name and Password: authentication to vCenter instance.
- vCenter Destination: DataCenter, cluster, or folder that hosts the new physical server and the VMs. Click Browse to search the vCenter destinations.
- vCenter Host Profile: vCenter profile has OS-level configuration for the host.
- Click Save to add the vCenter Settings information to the profile.
- Click X (upper-right corner) to close the Hypervisor Profile: profile name pop-up.
